Nursery

Nursery

At Blundell’s Nursery we are proud to offer a nurturing, inclusive environment where the child is at the heart of all we do.. In the Early Years we strive to give each child a strong foundation, developing skills that they will continue to draw on and develop across their time in the Prep school and beyond.

The way that we plan, play and teach fosters a strong sense of curiosity, independence, and a love for learning right from the start, with a gentle and developmentally appropriate approach. We aim to support the children in our care both emotionally and socially as well as academically.

Ivy

Nursery Pupil

Ivy is the youngest of three, all of whom have been through our Nursery. Ivy absolutely loves our focus on learning through play. Each topic is introduced in the form of a Mind Map where the children offer their ideas, thoughts and opinions. Ivy enjoys contributing ideas and then seeing them materialise in the form of planned activities that both stimulate and challenge her. She has a wonderful imagination and creative side that is further developed by our themed role play areas, specialist music lessons and access to the dance studio as well as extensive school grounds. She is very inquisitive and loves to explore the natural world during our Wild Wonders sessions.

Pre-Prep

Pre-Prep

At Blundell’s Pre-Prep, children build on the strong foundations laid in Nursery, developing confidence, curiosity and core academic skills. Our experienced teachers create a warm, structured environment where every child feels valued and supported as they take their first steps into formal learning.

Small class sizes mean every pupil is known well, allowing us to tailor teaching to individual needs. Through a balance of focused lessons and purposeful play, children develop strong foundations in literacy and numeracy while nurturing their creativity, resilience and love of learning.

Oliver

Pre-Prep Pupil

Oliver joined Pre-Prep after thoroughly enjoying his time in the Nursery, and has continued to flourish. He loves the hands-on approach to learning, particularly in maths and science, where he can explore ideas through practical activities. Oliver has grown in confidence, enjoys taking part in class discussions, and has made close friendships that mean a great deal to him. Outside the classroom, he loves sports day, forest school sessions, and the weekly library visits where he gets to choose his own books to take home.

Prep

Prep

Blundell’s Prep offers a broad and stimulating curriculum designed to challenge and inspire. Pupils are encouraged to think independently, ask questions and take ownership of their learning, all within a supportive community that celebrates individual strengths and interests.

Alongside strong academics, we place great importance on sport, music, drama and outdoor education. Our aim is to develop well-rounded, resilient young people who are ready for the challenges and opportunities of Senior School and beyond.

Amelia

Prep Pupil

Amelia has been at Blundell’s Prep for three years and describes it as her second home. She particularly enjoys the creative subjects, especially art and drama, where she has had the opportunity to perform in two school productions. Amelia also plays for the school hockey team and has represented the Prep in inter-school tournaments. She values the close relationships she has built with her teachers, who she says always encourage her to try new things and believe in her abilities.

Senior

Senior

Blundell’s Senior School provides an outstanding academic education within a warm and ambitious community. Pupils are challenged to achieve their full potential across a wide range of subjects, guided by dedicated teachers who know each pupil as an individual.

Beyond the classroom, pupils have access to an exceptional range of co-curricular activities, from sport and music to Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and leadership opportunities. We believe education is about more than exam results — it’s about building character, confidence and a genuine love of learning.

Jacob

Senior Pupil

Jacob joined the Senior School from the Prep and has embraced everything it has to offer. He is passionate about science and has taken part in national competitions, while also being an active member of the school’s rugby and athletics teams. Jacob credits the school with helping him develop not only academically but also as a person, thanks to the strong pastoral care and the encouragement he receives to pursue his interests outside the curriculum.
